Knesset passes law to speed up Gush Katif evacuees' resettlement
Last Thursday the Knesset passed a law to move ahead the resettlement of Gush Katif evacuees. The law, submitted by several MKs including Yisrael Beytenu's David Rotemand Ze'ev Elkin and Amira Dotan (Kadima), ) and Zevulun Orlev (National Religious Party) is intended to shorten planning processes for new communities. It requires the government to make sure the Israel Lands Administration is ready to conclude agreements with evacuees and set aside land. The law also states that the IAA is to set a timetable for the completion of infrastructure and the beginning of construction.
